According to reports getting to us from CNN news, over the weekend, two convicted killers escaped from a prison facility in New York. 

An employee at the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York is being questioned as a possible accomplice in the escape of two convicted killers over the weekend, a law enforcement source briefed on the investigation confirmed to CNN.

The source refused to address the media on the extent of the woman's involvement or the kind of help she may have provided.

The New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the inmates -- Richard Matt and David Sweat -- recived help in carrying out the intricate plot. The duo, who were in side-by-side cells, used power tools to cut through the cells' steel walls and clambered through a maze of underground pipes, according to authorities.

"They wouldn't have had the equipment on their own, that's for sure," Cuomo told CNN of the convicted killers, who escaped sometime after they were last seen at bed check Friday night.

In their place, the pair left decoys to trick guards into thinking they were asleep in their bunks -- and a . It read, "Have a Nice Day!"

People call the Clinton Correctional Facility "Little Siberia."

That's in part because of its remote location -- in the sparsely populated northeast corner of New York, about 25 miles from the Canadian border.

And also because it's in a region where wintry weather can persist more than half the year.

The facility has 2,689 inmates, and two of its most notorious inhabitants were Matt, 49, and Sweat, 35.

Along with the taunting sticky note, the pair also left a host of unanswered, and uncomfortable, questions for law enforcement.

How did they get the power tools? How could they have known the layout of the bowels of the old prison? Did they have help from the inside?

Cuomo, who toured the escape route and announced the $100,000 reward Sunday, said it was possible the tools came from contractors working on the 170-year-old prison. Authorities are also looking at civilian prison employees, he said. But he seemed to rule out the involvement of the prison's certified employees.

"I'd be shocked if a guard was involved, and that's putting it mildly," he said.

Shalom Miriam Shehu, has recounted how one of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari turned her out of a boutique yesterday.
Shehu, who says her father is a prominent figure in southern Borno and her mother is a retired federal permanent secretary, claimed an unnamed daughter of President Buhari came into the boutique in Wuse 2, Abuja, where she was shopping.
Shehu said that everyone was ordered out of the boutique, and she was particularly embarrassed.
She took to Twitter to explain how it happened.

The minister went emotional as she attended the service of songs for the late Oronto Douglas, the special adviser to President Jonathan on research and documentation. The event took place in Abuja in the night of April 30, 2015, Thursday.
The minister gave a rare insight into her health problems of the past:
“Oronto and I had two similarities in life, we both had cancer. I had my last surgery, 15 years ago and I shared my experience with him.”
She further narrated how she repeatedly sought to encourage the late presidential aide using her triumph over the disease, but did not mention the type of cancer.

 President Jonathan was represented by Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The service of songs also attended by representatives of civil society, the government, the media and the clergy.
Muhammadu Buhari, the president-elect, sent his condolences to President Jonathan on Oronto’s death.
The late politician, who was also described as a “bridge builder across political divides”, will be buried on May 2

“The unique design has enabled us to identify the factors that influence survival after the age of 50. Our recommendation for people who aspire to centenarianism is to refrain from smoking, maintain healthy cholesterol levels and confine themselves to four cups of coffee a day.

The team discovered 27 per cent of those taking part survived to reach the age of 80, while 13 per cent made their 90th birthdays.  Of all the deaths occurring after the age of 80, 42 per cent were attributed to heart disease, 20 per cent to infection, eight per cent to stroke, eight per cent to cancer, six per cent to pneumonia, and 16 per cent to other causes.

About entering the world of music

“It started while I was in the university. I was the choir mistress during my secondary school days. I entered for many competitions and won laurels. When I got admission into the university, I tried to visit the studio. I was with Nelson Brown I went to the studio for the first time in Lagos. That was some six years ago when I was still an undergraduate.
“Unlike other singers who started from their church choristers, music runs in my family. My mum was into music. She had a musical group while she was in secondary school. When I was growing up, she saw the talent in me and helped me to nurture it. But unknown to many, I started singing before I joined the choir.”

Imelda J has several singles during her six years in the industry: ‘My Love for You’ feat. “I didn’t have any problem initially with Jaywon until mouth started wagging that we were dating. People around me started misbehaving and Jaywon started saying all kinds of things, confirming that he was having an affair with me. But its maturity that matters here.
“Jaywon and I were not friends. We were like normal day to day friends but people didn’t understand and when the rumour surfaced, his crew handled it in a very poor and immature way. Their reactions were negative as they went about writing so many things about me. I felt bad but at the end, I just let go and I’ve forgiven them from the bottom of my heart.”

About the most touching experience in life

“I’ve had so many touching experiences, and someday I will share my story with the world . This is because I’ve seen a whole lots of things in my life. Being an artiste, you are faced with a situation where you cannot help and not even your money.
“When I wanted to release my song title “Bread and Butter”, I was scammed to sign an agreement with a company which later turned out to be fraud and that actually discouraged me then from releasing the song.
“So as a female artiste, we face a lot of challenges everyday because I can’t even remember my most touching experience anymore because I have had a lot of it and it’s like an everyday thing for me. But for one thing, I never give up.”

The craziest thing in Imelda J’s career

“I think that was when I used my first school fees to buy a keyboard and that was during my university days. Funny enough, my dad didn’t get angry at me. According to him, he knew I was going to do that. That is the craziest thing I’ve ever done.”

Imelda J’s admires D’Banj: “Reason being that I love him and because he is very focus. D’Banj is a superstar who looks beyond the music industry. He dares even when it might fail and those are the qualities that attracted him to me including his lips. I think he’s a spirit-filled kind of person like me. “I love freedom and being happy. I don’t like someone who is domineering. For instance, if you are the kind of man that wants to go out and play snookers or football. Equally, if you know my music is my source of joy, my man should be able to support me financially and otherwise. He should be there for me. If he’s not well-to-do, I know he does not have but if he does, I know he should be there for me. If I want to go to the studio and the man is not allowing me, he is not my kind of man.”

About the meaning of sex

“To me, sex is highly spiritual because if I don’t love someone I cannot kiss the person. But something happened sometimes ago when a male fan kissed me on stage. I believe sex is more divine than the way people see it. I respect sex a lot and I think it should be sacred.”

(CNN)Chinese scientists say they have discovered a new dinosaur species, with bat-like wings, that sheds light on how dinosaurs may have evolved into birds.

Based on a fossil specimen discovered in China's Hebei province a decade ago, scientists estimate the bird-like dinosaur existed for a very short time 160 million years ago during the Jurassic Period, according to a new paper published in scientific journal Nature on Wednesday.

The flying creature weighed about 230 grams and was 63 centimeters in length.

Xu Xing, a paleontologist with China's Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, and lead author of the report, told CNN the dinosaur's fossilized remains highlighted the complexity of evolution.

Named Yi qi, or "strange wing" in Chinese, Xu said it was one of the earliest dinosaurs to show some capacity for flight -- even though it wasn't very successful.

Unlike other bird-like dinosaurs, its wings were made from membranes -- like a bat -- rather than composed of feathers.

It didn't become the birds we see today -- it tried but failed.

"It's a failed experiment, it's an evolutionary dead end," Xu said.

"Over the last 30 years, there were so many discoveries made that demonstrate birds are really descendants of dinosaurs," he said.

"It's a great example showing how dinosaurs evolved into birds."

Even though the dinosaur had wings, Xu said it's unclear whether it could flap them and most likely moved through the air mostly by gliding.

He told CNN the fossil is now held in a museum in Shandong Province, and the next step would be trying to find more fossils of the same species to be able to better understand, for example, its flight capability.

Thanks to a robust economy, China has become a major center for dinosaur discovery and research.

"We have more funding for paleontological expeditions," he said. "So now there are more expeditions in this country than 30 years ago, which means you can find more fossils.

Widespread construction work also helps to expose more rocks and fossils, he added.

Following the intensifying the contest for the Senate presidency, 64 ranking and new senators-elect have met yesterday in Abuja.
They expressed support to the ex Kwara state governor, senator Bukola Saraki, for the post of Senate president.
The commendation came as ex Vice-President Atiku Abubakar yesterday said the chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was working hard to harmoniously resolve the intense tussle over the zoning of main offices of the National Assembly.

The senators in support of Saraki, who is from the North-central geopolitical zone, had decided to toss their weight behind the former Kwara governor because they want a “Senate president who is a product of the members and not imposed by a godfather.”
According to a source, those present at the meeting included 19 senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and 45 from the APC.

The source said those that attended the meeting comprised Senators Muhammad Adamu Aliero, Danjuma Goje, Andy Uba, Mohammed Ali Ndume and Gilbert Nnaji.
Others comprise Dino Melaye and Isiaka Adeleke, who have just won poll to the senate, the three senators introducing Delta state and two from Edo State, among others.
The notice gathered, is meant at awkward attempts by the APC to zone the Senate presidency to the North-east geopolitical zone, and efforts by the National Leader of the party Bola Tinubu, to impose Senator Ahmed Lawan, his preferred candidate from Yobe State, as Senate president.

However, Atiku, who was in a closed-door meeting with the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, for almost an hour, told reporters that the changes that the incoming APC government means to bring into governance will not happen overnight but will be a continuing process.
The APC chieftains had in the last two weeks been struggling with the matter of zoning of principal offices to be engaged by the party in the National Assembly with different shareholders pushing for their interests.

The Chibok schoolgirls are very dear to my heart because they were kidnapped while they were in school. Their kidnap is very symbolic because their kidnappers are opposed to western education especially female education.

The entire world especially myself, is desperate about the rescue of the Chibok schoolgirls in order not to allow the ideology held by the insurgents to thrive and to encourage education which is the foundation of any human or society that seeks to develop. However, this rescue is also very dear to me. I am as pleased as much as I would be when the Chibok schoolgirls are rescued by the special grace of God. I am very optimistic, prayerful and supportive of the military’s ongoing rescue and counter insurgency operations.
We won’t give up on the Chibok schoolgirls like I said two weeks ago. No sane parent gives up on a missing child. I have daughters and I know the love of a parent to the girl child. For now, it is better to allow the military handle things, conduct their investigations and ascertain the identity of those rescued but irrespective of the identity of the girls, we are very happy they have been rescued whether they are citizens of Borno or anywhere else.

I kindly urge the media to refer to the military for updates on the matter so that there are no mix-ups at any point. I kindly call on all citizens of Borno and other fellow Nigerians to pray for our armed forces and volunteers to succeed so that good will triumph over evil. We have abiding faith in God that he will see us through these times and we shall overcome the temporary but traumatic moment of grief. God will set Chibok girls and all Nigerians free from fear and the brutality of Boko Haram Insurgents and others in their league.”

Atiku Abubakar, ex Vice President, has met with the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari at the Defence House, Abuja.
Former Vice President said that discussions held during the brief meeting were private.
Meanwhile, he told journalists that the All Progressives Congress had the ability to thrash out matters surrounding the zoning of offices particularly at the National Assembly.

When answered why he met with Buhari, Atiku said: “We just discussed private matters,” continuing that it was too early to talk about resolving the case of zoning.
“That is too early. This is something the leadership and the party is handling. I believe it will be resolved before the House is reconvened (in June),” Atiku said.

He also expressed assurance that the emergence of Buhari and the APC would bring about the change that Nigerian had been deserving.
Meanwhile, former Vice President, advised Nigerians to give the incoming government time to deal with the issues it was going to oppose.
Atiku said: “Really, changes will come. The President-elect has assured the people that, but it will not just come overnight; it has to be gradual. Definitely, there will be positive change in that matter but it will be gradual.”
In a comment by his media office, Atiku said he was rejoicing at the reports of the rescue of nearly 300 girls and women from the Sambisa Forest by Nigerian army.

Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president-elect has denied banning African Independent Television (AIT) from covering his activities

The president-elect noted that he became aware of the matter after the public uproar it caused.
In a comment issued by Garba Shehu, the head of the media and publicity directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign, Buhari was cited as saying: “The time of change has come and we must avoid making the same mistakes that the outgoing government made.”

 Shehu’s comment said the president-elect has instructed all his personnel, comprising the staff attached closely to him, “to steer clear of all dealings with the media, and leave all media affairs to his official media team”.
Buhari said: “I would like everyone to henceforth stay within his/her defined area of responsibility.”


Buhari continued that his media team should be left to deal with their media colleagues as they best knew how, the statement added.
The channel had been banned from covering Buhari’s activities on Monday, April 27, but the APC upturned the decision the next day.
Shehu had said: “AIT has been asked to step aside based on security and family concerns.”
Nigerians in their reactions criticised the president-elect decision, supposing that he can return to dictatorship.

According to Premium Times, the 12 of 24 members of the Assembly on April 29, Wednesday, listed six impeachable offences against the governor.

They include:

1) That Governor Sa’idu Dakingari committed grave violation of the provision of Section 5(1)(a) of the Kebbi State Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Bureau Law,2006 in that the Chairman of the Bureau is to be a retired Civil Servant, but the Governor appointed a serving Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General of the State Ministry of justice, Barr Aminu Usman as Chairman of the Bureau.

2) That the governor committed gross misconduct by accessing and obtaining a loan facility to the tune of N2 billion from Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Support Fund set up by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) allegedly without obtaining the necessary confirmation of 2/3 majority of the Assembly, which was opposed by nine of 24 members.

3) That the Governors continues work with unelected Local Government Councils in the State whose tenure in office already expired on or about the 18th September,2014, two years after Oath of office as provided by Section 18(1) of Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008 and thereby committed a gross misconduct.

4) That between the period of January 2015 – April 2015, the governor allegedly misappropriated the sum of N1,800,862,672.00 from the State Government funds in the name of General Election 2015 even when there is no provision for that expenditure in the Appropriation Law 2015.

5) The Governor,alleged misappropriated the sum of N965,000, 000.00 in the name of the official visits of Mr President, Vice President and First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between November 2014 to March, 2015 and that Mr Vice President and First Lady did not make any official visit to Kebbi State within the said period thereby committed gross misconduct.

6) That the governor issued the renovation and furnishing of the Presidential Lodge and other government lodges at the cost of N558, 560, 416.00 to unknown contractor in September 2011 and thereafter within two months period that was between October 2014 – November, 2014, the governor alleged wrongly inflated the cost of renovation and furnishing to the tune of N1, 347, 373, 906.54k.That the contract sum was increased by the sum of N788, 813, 490.54k thereby committed misconduct.
